Prairie Family Days 5K

Does 5.5% sales tax mean anything to you? That’s 4.1% lower than the national average. That’s reason enough to go shopping at a downtown boutique or the Pleasant Prairie Premium Outlets. Or maybe you’re into sports and recreation. Did you know? Roughly 90 percent of our lakefront is dedicated to public recreation.

From windsurfing and jazz concerts, to wine tastings and cross country skiing, Kenosha caters to the YP lifestyle. Our Midwest geography gives us the advantage of four seasons. Here are some seasonal ideas to stay tuned in all year long in Kenosha:

Spring

Summer

  • Go strawberry picking at Thompson Strawberry Farm
  • Don’t forget the 4th of July fireworks show on the lakefront!
  • Nothing says summer more than softball. Men’s, women’s and co-ed leagues run all summer, and Lincoln Park will be flooded in July for Rotary tournament.
  • Head down to Grill Games in August for a rockin’ & sizzling good time

Fall

  • Find the perfect pumpkin, eat a caramel apple, and visit the petting zoo at Apple Holler
  • Get in a last round of golf before the snow hits! We have seven courses to choose from right here in Kenosha County!
  • Looking for a fun athletic challenge? Run 2 miles or the 10k in the annual Mayor’s Turkey Day Run!
  • Enjoy the fall foliage by hiking at Petrifying Springs

Winter

  • See a seasonal play at Rhode Center for the Arts downtown
  • Visit Christmas Lane to view festive holiday light displays
  • Honor your New Year’s resolution and take a yoga class at one of the local studios
  •  Visit one (or all four) of Kenosha’s public museums
